About Things

Categorizing children's books is very difficult because every child is different. Sometimes kids only want to read the harder books that older kids are reading. Sometimes they only want to read the comfortingly easy books that they know by heart. Plus, different children have different interests. Our little brother currently won't read anything that is not a mystery. And he also is too cool to read things that we suggest. Taking that into account, we have decided to place books in one of three categories.

1. Read to Me
These are books that are written for young children, but are harder to read than most beginning readers can manage. Any book can be read aloud to children, but these books are ones that are designed specifically to be read out loud.

2. Beginning Reader
These books are ones that are written for new readers. They contain fairly easy vocabulary, and are less than  fifty pages long.

3. Advanced Reader
This category is for children's books that are more advanced than Beginning Readers.

These are very broad categories because we didn't want to guess at what age a child will want to read a certain book. We hope they are helpful.
